Mild Hybrid is available across the New Ford Puma range. MHEV Vehicles (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles) have two sources of power that work together:
The internal combustion engine is assisted by an electric motor. At low speed, or when stationary, the engine can switch itself off and the 48V starter-generator seamlessly restarts when needed. The separate 48V Li-ion battery is automatically recharged by regenerative braking during coasting and braking.
There is no requirement to connect the battery to a power source.
A new age of cleaner hybrid electric vehicles is here, and New Ford Puma embodies this new direction. Offering a choice of new forward-thinking, advanced EcoBoost hybrid petrol options, the Puma engines deliver outstanding performance, together with impressive fuel economy and noticeably lower CO2 emissions figures than other conventional, non-hybrid engines.
