Rugged and reliable with strong shapes and tested toughness, the Hilux is no average pickup truck. Available in three body styles, the single cab has the largest load space, the extra cab model has a 2+2 seating set-up, and the four-door double cab gives up some load space to provide five-seats. Each edition is incredibly practical in its own right, but the double cab version is particularly popular with drivers who want to combine working practicality with a family lifestyle.
Capable and assured
The 2.4-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 148bhp is capable and assured in its on and off-road ability. Available as six-speed manual or automatic, this 16-valve engine uses advanced technology to boost efficiency and performance.
As you would expect, the Hilux's suspension is designed to cope with heavy loads. Perhaps its most important quality, the Hilux now has its biggest load and tow capacity to date, with a carrying capability of 1,030kg and power to pull up to 3.5 tonnes. The Hilux is long, wide and low, adding to its practicality, with a load area 1,540 mm wide on all models, and a length that varies from 1,525mm in the double cab model to 2,315mm in the single cab.
An array of luxury features adds to the appeal of the Hilux and make driving an enjoyable pursuit. All models now come with multiple airbags, ABS, Emergency Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, and Trailer Sway Control. Double cabs also benefit from Downhill Assist Control and ISOFIX child seat mountings.
The Hilux is well equipped, good looking and as tough as they come. And now its position as one of the most durable, reliable and capable pickups is cemented firmly in place by winning Commercial Fleet Awards ‘Pick-up of the Year’.
