The new Hilux’s electric power steering system increases manoeuvrability
and helps to reduce off-road kickback, while the Diesel 48V powertrain

An electric motor-generator supports the 2.8 L diesel engine, for smooth acceleration and
enhanced off-road performance.

Yes, the Hilux will offer both the Diesel 48V and battery-electric options. The All-Electric Hilux will be open for orders in June 2026, at the same time as the Diesel 48V, bringing our first battery-electric Hilux to UK customers. Click to find out more.The Hilux Diesel 48V is classified as an N1 commercial vehicle, meaning it continues to be treated as a light commercial vehicle rather than a car.
VAT eligibility for the Hilux Diesel 48V has not changed. If the purchasing business is VAT‑registered and the Hilux has a payload of at least 1,000kg, it is not treated as a car for VAT purposes. In these circumstances, VAT may be reclaimed in line with standard VAT rules, subject to the level of business use.
The Hilux Diesel 48V is subject to standard commercial vehicle road tax, currently set at £360 per year.
As it is classified as a commercial vehicle, it is not affected by the luxury car tax supplement.
