Alistair Darling announced the introduction of a car and van scrappage scheme in the April budget and whilst full details are still to be published it is expected that from mid-May car and van owners will receive £2,000 when replacing a qualifying old vehicle for a new one. It is anticipated that this programme will apply to new orders placed post 18th May.
Rather than waiting for the Government Scrappage Incentive Scheme to commence, CITROËN has rolled out its own Scrappage scheme which offers a minimum of £2,000 across all new cars (even £3,000 on selected C4 and Grand C4 Picasso models), and £2,000 on all vans with immediate effect.
The CITROËN scheme also extends to customers with cars registered between 2000 and 2004, offering a Trade-In Incentive scheme on selected car models, giving customers even more reason to throw out the old and save on the new.
Under both of these schemes we will pay the following support, in many cases this support is in addition to any existing cashback offers:
Between £2,000 and £3,000 - to customers with a vehicle registered before 2000 (vehicles will be scrapped via a Cartakeback Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF).)
£1,000 - to customers with a car registered between 1st January 2000 and 31st December 2002. (There is no obligation to scrap these vehicles.)
£750 – to customers with a car registered between 1st January 2003 and 31st December 2004. (There is no obligation to scrap these vehicles.)
As these Scrappage/Trade-in cashbacks are offered in addition to many existing CITROËN deals, participating dealers can offer a new C4 five-door family hatchback from just £7,995*.

NB: Where a Scrappage cashback is paid against the purchase of a new van or C1, C2, C3, C3 Pluriel, C3 Picasso, Berlingo First car, Dispatch Combi and Relay Combi model, no other manufacturer cashback will apply. The CITROËN Scrappage Scheme applies to all new cars and vans. The Trade-In Incentive Scheme applies to all new cars excluding C1, C2, C3, C3 Pluriel, Berlingo First car, C3 Picasso, Dispatch Combi and Relay Combi models.
